Operation Christmas Child

What is Operation Christmas Child?

Operation Christmas Child brings joy & hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes & the Good News of God's love.  This program, sponsored by Samaritan's Purse, provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on mission project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas - Jesus Christ, God's greatest gift.  Along with shoe box gifts, millions of children are given Gospel booklets in their own language.  Through these simple gifts, the message of God's love is being shared around the world, and many lives have been impacted for eternity.  To find out more information, go to www.samaritanspurse.org/ OCC_Index.asp.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who helped make OCC a big success in 2009!  A special thanks goes to Betty Jo Hensley for all her hard work and dedication to this event!  We were also grateful for the amazing response of volunteers.  Approximately 3865 shoeboxes were dropped off at the E. J. Hines Baptist Center by churches and individuals from Jacksonville, Onslow County, and surrounding areas.  Listed below is the total number of shoeboxes that were collected in 2009 by the churches of the New River Bapist Association.
